Dr. Howard is a San Diego dentist who was born and raised in a small community outside of Pittsburgh, Pa. After graduating from high school he attended Penn State University for 2 years before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Shaw A.F.B. in Sumter, S.C. After being discharged from the service he received his B.S. degree in Biology from the University of South Carolina. From there he returned to Pittsburgh where he worked selling pharmaceuticals for Ayerst Laboratories. In 1971 he entered the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree (D.M.D.) in 1975 at which time he joined the U.S. Navy for 3 years.
